Greylag Goose (Anser anser)

STATUS AT LONGHAM LAKES

Erratic visits from wandering individuals of captive origin. Remarkably, also one certain record of a truly wild bird (see below)

Wild Bird:
1 bird found by Nick Woods on 10th January 2011 (in the company of another Greylag) was wearing a blue neck ring with code 0EB, with a blue similarly coded ring on its left foot and a metal ring on its right. It was ringed in 2000 in Scania, Sweden. It turned up in Druridge Bay, Northumberland, in February 2010, and had been seen also in Scotland, Kent and Cornwall. It remained until 15th January.
