Eurasian Treecreeper (Certhia familiaris)

STATUS AT LONGHAM LAKES

Resident in the woodland sections of the site.

Early records:
1. 2 in Samuel’s Wood on 3rd September 2003.
2. 1 heard by Hampreston Fields on 20th April 2005.
3. 1 singing from Emily’s Wood on 22nd April 2006.
4. 1 in Samuel’s Wood with large roaming flock of tits, 13th September 2006.
5. 1 by Hampreston Fields, 23rd October 2006.
6. 1 on 6th March 2007.
7. 1 in Emily’s Wood on 12th September 2007.

Since then regularly seen in both woods by the Stour; undoubtedly breeds.

Breeding:
2010: 4 birds (=2 pairs) in conflict, Samuel’s Wood 11th March 2010. 1 pair Emily’s Wood, so probably 3 pairs.
2011: Present in summer.
2012: 1 trapped on 30th July.
2013: Present (ringed).
2014: 1 territory, early April.
2015: 1 territory, April 15th.

Ringing:
2011: 1 ringed on 29th August (Roger Peart).
2012: 1 ringed in July.
2013: 2 ringed, both in July.
2014: 1 ringed in August.
