Status at Longham Lakes

Common resident. Breeds on-site and is seen on every visit.

10 were present on 16th January 2006, probably an average winter total.
20 on the northern part of the site, 8th November 2012.
10 on 28th November 2014.
15+ on 3rd February 2015.

High counts in migration season:
30 on 26th October 2005.
6 on 21st November 2004.
20 on the southern part of the site, 6th November 2009.

Breeding:
2010: Minimum of 7 singing males on-site.
2014: 8 territories, early April.
2016: 8 territories were located in woodland and scrub (Steve Morrison).

Ringing:
2011: 20 ringed between 27th April and 3rd October, with a maximum of 3 on one day (Roger Peart).
2012: 30 ringed between May and November.
2013: 10 ringed between May and October.
2014: 17 ringed between May and November.
