Green Sandpiper (Tringa ochropus)

Status at Longham Lakes
Formerly regular winter visitor in very small numbers, mainly to the Quarry; also regular passage migrant. Has also been recorded on the Stour, by the weir.

First recorded on 12th August 2002. Now recorded in every month except May.

2012: 1 on March 11th (Robin Trundle)
2013: 1 on 22nd September (Robin Trundle).
2014: 1 over on 5th April 2014 (DC), 1 on 21st August (George Green).
2015: A good year: 1 by Longham Reservoir South on 9th February (Lorne Bissell), 1 on 22nd March (George Green), 1 from 2nd-11th April, with 2 on 13th April, 1 on 16th August and then 1 on 19th December.

2016: 1 on 2nd April and 1 on 16th September (Martin Wood).
