STATUS AT LONGHAM LAKES

Common resident which sometimes breeds on site.

High counts:
1. 4 on 14th August 2004.
2. 5 on 22nd January 2007.
3. 5 on 12th February 2007.
4. 13 on 25 April 2008, included a spring ceremonial gathering of 9 birds.
5. 10 present on the Quarry, 20th January 2009.
6. 9 on 23rd March 2009.
7. 10 by the shore of LR South, 24th February 2010.
8. 6 on 3rd December 2012 (Ray Gleason).
9. 8 on 28th November 2014 (DC).

Winter Roost:
2014: Small numbers (5+) noted in bushes to south of Longham Reservoir South in late December.

Breeding:
2014: 2 nests and one other territory, early April.
2016: One territory was located in the plantation woods east of the watermeadows (Steve Morrison).

Ringing:
2011: 1 ringed on 24th August (Roger Peart)
2012: 3 ringed in August.
2013: None ringed.
