Skylark (Alauda arvensis)

Status at Longham Lakes
Former breeding resident. Also a regular autumn migrant.

Migrants:
1. 2 flew N on 16th October 2005.
2. 10 overhead, 12th October 2006.
3. 5 on 26th October 2009.
4. 16 on 12th October 2010 (Ray Gleason), 5 on 18th and 3 west on 19th
5. 8 on 1st November 2010.
6. 2 on 6th and 16th November 2010.
7. 16 over on 14th October 2011, then 1 on 17th.
8. 8 over on 31st October 2011
9. 7+ on 14th October 2013 (DC).

Hard weather movements:
7 on 19th December 2010 (Trevor Thorpe).
235 flew north in 1 hour 9.50-10.50 on 7th January 2010.
16 present on 11th January 2010.
70 around the Lakes, flying just above the water surface, 2nd December 2010.
33 on 30th December 2010 (Ray Gleason).

Breeding:
3 present 2005
Present on territory in 2008.
2 singing males, 28th May 2009. Not present 2011
2012: Heard singing over large field on 17th May (Chris Parnell), then 1 over on 28th May (Terry Elborn).
2014: 1 singing, early April.

2015: The only record all year was of one flushed from the south-east side of LR South on 14th May (DC).
