Great Crested Grebe (Podiceps cristatus)

Status at Longham Lakes

Common resident, with small numbers breeding sporadically.

First recorded April 20th 2002.

Breeding:
2009: 1 fully grown juvenile on LR North on 17th July.
2010: 2 chicks on 8th July (Trevor Thorpe). 1 chick on 23rd July (Chris Parnell).
2011: 1 nest on LR South with 1 egg, 1st May. 1 nest on LR South, 6th June (Trevor Thorpe).
2015: A pair with 3 young on 14th July 2015 (Trevor Wilkinson).
